Just thinking back to my summers in elementary school when I would be in a day-camp all day while my parents worked. All we did was go on and on about Pokémon and pretend we were Pokémon trainers and mimed out epic battles by vaguely waving our Pokémon action figures at each other and yelling. Vaporeon was totally my main bro and always had my 90s-pastel-t-shirt-wearing back.

This is how I feel because I’ve been going through SSRI withdrawl for the past week+ ish which I know is a bad decision but my health insurance made it for me.
I think I might be through the worst because I haven’t had a bad “brain zap” for about 24 hours now. Which is like having your brain electrocuted over and over again, so horrifically painful to say the absolute least.
Never again, Sertraline. Never a-fucking -gain.
I’m taking my life back from you.

Hella crappy Photobooth pictures of the mask for my Halloween costume this year. I’m going as a Kitsune (supernatural shape-shifting fox spirit from Japan). You can’t really see it but the paints on the mask are all pearlescent or iridescent so it’s all sparkly and fancy. I made the mask out of papier-maché last year but didn’t get a chance to wear it, so I’m excited. I’ve also got a tail (may make more) and some supplies to make some vaguely-kanzashi-ish hairclips once I figure out the color scheme for the rest of the outfit.
Of course I don’t actually have any clothes to wear with the costume! I can’t afford a real kimono, don’t have time/a sewing machine to make my own, and all the “kimono” or “geisha” costumes I’ve encountered at Halloween stores so far are super skimpy and embarrassingly inaccurate. I hope I can find either a premade costume or a plain vaguely-kimono-looking robe I can modify into something workable, if strange.
Also FIRST HALLOWEEN WHERE I CAN LEGALLY DRINK HELLS YES.
DEAR GODS OF ACADEMIA, PLEASE DELIVER UNTO ME THE INFORMATION I NEED FOR MY THESIS PROJECT, AMEN.
All I need are folk tales that fit into the man-made monster theme for my thesis. Not encyclopedia entries. Not academic essays. THE ACTUAL STORIES. Why why whyyyyy is this so hard to find? When I look through encyclopedias for ideas I find promising premises but not the actual stories, and when I go looking through collections of folk-texts I can’t find anything that fits. I only have a treatment of a Golem story completed and I need to do two more treatments, especially because I’m not sure if my re-working of the Golem narrative is too far from the original for the assignment. I’m already behind due to flu bullshit PLEASE GODS OF ACADEMIA HELP A LADY OUT FOR ONCE.
